Calling it the outrage is kind of a joke on the similarity of spelling to outage. Certain people do get genuinely outraged by even a short outage.
That reminds me of getting pulled over for speeding some 20+ years ago :
"Any reason for exceeding the speed limit sir ?"
"No. Not really. I was late for work."
"Well it's not getting any earlier is it ?"
Touche.
You just don't get that polite personal service anymore. Just a photo in the mail with numbers and stuff. None of that awkward surreal feeling brought about by lights and sirens. No flush of embarrassment followed by the flurry to find one's license. No palpitations nor sweat. No shameful regrets. No shoulda/woulda/coulda .....
... this, my great-grandchildren, is what it was like when dinosaurs walked the Earth, tasers were but a dream, and police were not metal robots. :-);-)
