Maybe the coders could make it part of an update to the program, if you click detach, or uninstall, it does the steps that you ask each of the users to do. Kick off each of those procedures... just a thought

not possible. This is probably due to the different operating systems:
Windows (even though it was wine on linux) and native linux.
What data do you mean exactly? Have you tried the 'Merge' function that can be found through your Account page and clicking a name of a computer. At the end of the those computer pages is 'Merge' which will then suggest some computer(s), if there was something similar enough to merge. If I remember correctly sometimes it can suggest a host that is not the "same computer". It's good to check if they really are, until accepting a merge.
